A special discussion related to the Northern Province Health Sector was held on 08/08/2024 in the Auditorium of the Governor’s Secretariat. This meeting was chaired by Honorable Governor P.S.M. Charles. Northern Provincial Health Administrative officials participated in this discussion.

The problems encountered in the provincial health sector and the changes in the mechanism to be carried out were discussed.

The Honorable Governor directed with the provincial health administration authorities to establish an emergency unit in all hospitals in the Northern Province and advised them to appoint staff for that unit and provide appropriate training and also said that, steps should be taken to introduce a data mechanism for the integration of hospitals as soon as possible. The Honorable Governor instructed the Provincial Health Director to submit a report regarding the manpower, lack of resources and requirements of the health department as soon as possible.
